This is a 1985 Nissan 720 4×4 pickup truck, this one has the 4-cylinder ‘Z’ engine (110,000 miles driven), 5-speed manual transmission, self locking hubs, power steering, power assist brakes, air conditioning, heater, full instrumentation (tach, battery, oil pressure, temp), running boards, auxiliary lights, roll bar. Overall this is an excellent example of a very nicely preserved 1980s pickup, it is being sold AS-IS, everything is original as it came from the factory, only minor repairs have been performed (engine /transmission / transfer case / clutch never repaired or rebuilt), so please keep in mind that components are as old as the truck (other than those listed below) and may eventually need attention in the future. Currently the truck runs and idles smooth as it should, all gauges indicate normal operation, it starts up easily and does not emit any smoke, the clutch engages easily and the shifting is crisp and precise, its 4×4 capabilities are outstanding, it does not leak fluids and only ‘seeps’ a tiny amount from the rear differential, never enough to need topping off even after many years, it has been given exceptional service and has always been protected from the elements. I am the third owner having purchased it in 1997 (clean title), it has always been a backup vehicle but does get used periodically and has never let me down. I have tried to provide as many images as I can to show the current condition of the truck. The interior shows very slight signs of wear, the carpeting and upholstery are all original (I always use floor mats, removed only for photos but have never used seat covers), seat belts work well and are in excellent condition, has original leather wrapped steering wheel cover that is still o.k., headliner good (non-smoking owner) the engine compartment is clean and oil free, the dashboard has a 2” crack in the center but otherwise is flawless (see photo), this has always been a California owned and stored vehicle (the Arizona license shown in the photos is only to conceal the CA plate #), I believe the original owner repainted the entire truck in order to get rid of the funky 80s graphics these things came with, I have never found any body work other than small door ding repairs, the paint looks better in the photos than it really is, it does have scratches and imperfections but still shines up nicely, the only rust can be seen in the bed behind the cab, about 3/4″x3″ and under the hood is a small hole over the battery area 1/2″x 2″, original muffler & exhaust have some rust deterioration but are still functional, the doors / hood / tailgate close easily and tight, gaps are even and straight. The all-terrain tires (BF Goodrich 235/75/15) have lots of tread left, everything works except: the stereo/cassette player gets power but doesn’t make sound, the AC runs cool but not very cold, windshield washer motor does not work. This truck would be a perfect candidate for full restoration or just to maintain and keep it going.
Parts Replaced Since I purchased:
Brake pads, tires, shocks, fuel pump, alternator, brake/clutch master and slave cylinders, headlights replaced (halogen), coolant reservoir replaced with aftermarket one.
Other than that just regular maintenance: radiator hoses, coolant flush, vacuum hoses, belts, spark plugs, spark plug wires, valve adjust, gear oil throughout, engine oil and filter replace (less than every 2000 miles on average, conventional 10-40), wheel bearing lubrication, chassis lube, air filter, fuel filter.
